Q: What inspired you to write "DIRE CONTACT"?
A: "Dire Contact" was born out of a fascination with the unknown and a desire to explore the boundaries of reality. I had an early idea of something that would become Space World later and wrote a short piece about it coming to be. I've always been drawn to stories that challenge our perceptions of the world and ask us to question what we think we know. With "DIRE CONTACT," I wanted to start a narrative that would keep readers guessing until the very end, while also delving into themes of identity, morality, and the power of human connection.
Q: How would you describe the main themes of the novel?
A: At its core, "DIRE CONTACT" is a story about the search for truth and the quest for meaning in a world that often feels chaotic and unpredictable. It's about grappling with the choices we make and the consequences of those choices, and ultimately finding the strength to face our fears and overcome adversity. It's a story about hope, resilience, the enduring power of the human spirit, and the relationships and community we build.
Q: Why do you write a series?
A: When I started writing the book I noticed very soon that, if this would be one book, it would have over 1000 pages! A bit hefty for a debut novel 😊 So I thought about it, and it did me the favor of falling into three very clear parts – that became the No Brainer Trilogy.
Q: Does this mean there is even more to come?
A: Absolutely. Not only did I fall in love with my characters while writing book one (as have my beta readers 😊) but I realized that the first three books of the No Brainer series kick off a bigger story I want to tell. In addition, my characters did this thing that changed the world forever creating Space World which I want to explore with my readers and characters in the future.
Q: What do you hope readers will take away from "DIRE CONTACT"?
A: I hope that "DIRE CONTACT" will spark conversations and inspire readers to think critically about the world around them. I want readers to be swept away by the adventure and mystery of the story and its characters, but I also hope that it will leave them pondering deeper questions about life, love, and the nature of existence. Ultimately, I hope that "DIRE CONTACT" will remind readers that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope - if we're willing to fight for it.
