Project Update: Daybreak nominated for two big awards!
Daybreak was just nominated for the prestigious Kennerspiel des Jahres!!
This is one of the biggest awards in boardgames, and we're 1 of 3 games to have made the shortlist! Matt has a second game on the shortlist (Ticket To Ride Legacy), so we especially like his chances 🙃
Also, we're also a finalist for Best Board Game Award at the 2024 Games for Change festival!

We ended up getting 20 copies for two classrooms and spent 3 days learning and playing Daybreak. It was a rich experience for the students. All told, over 300 students played the game and were stoked to be able to do so in class. It really brought in a lot of topics (resilience, value of research, investment, women's rights, geoengineering, policy issues) into discussion that don't usually make it into the climate discussion. You should know that making and sharing this is making a difference and opening up perspectives for kids about the future.
Reading that totally made our day.

Hi there, Im finally learning the game to get it in front of my games group. Can I check if there are meant to be 4 extenders to the tableau or just two as I only got two in my box, but theres no list of parts in the rule book to see whats meant to be in the box or not??

It has been 4 months since an update on this issue and stating replacement boxes will be sent. When will we receive an update on this? By now we should have some sense of a timeline on when to expect these to arrive.
Project Update: Donations, reviews, and ratings!
Some great news to share:
During the campaign, we pledged to donate $1 per backer to nonprofits working in climate and environmental justice causes. We sent those donations late last year, and I wanted to share where it went!
- $5,000 to WE ACT: This organization works on behalf of communities of color and low income residents in NYC to keep them prioritized in environmental planning, policy, and decision making.
- $5,000 to BSSK: The Indian nonprofit BSSK (Baikunthapur Sishu Seva Kendra) focuses on rural people of in the Sundarbans, where its citizens are regularly affected by devastating storms, rainfall, floods, and drinking water contamination.
BSSK used the funds to support awareness and training of close to 300 participants on climate change impacts, hygiene, and sanitation. Here's a pic of one of the sessions:

I may have missed it, if so, apologies. However, I haven't seen any updates on the digital web version of the game, and since I'm back to web-based versions of other boardgames (and adulting is the cVnt it is in terms of gathering with friends) it just downed on me it'd be nice to give it a go online.

I bought this game, cause it seemed to be very fun and in the faq it says you dont know if there will be other languages. maybe if there will be high success in future. The game arrived a few days ago and... there is a german version out in retail since september? And its 25€ less the price than here... thats sad. really sad. I only know it from kickstarter directly that the guys there ALWAYS should get their copies even before retail starts to produce...

Hi there, Immediately upon opening Daybreak, I concluded for myself that the game needed a box insert. The card boxes the game came with would be too tight a finicky for the number of times I expected to play it, and the game was slow to set up and pack up. And, with the damaged caused to games by shipping, I concluded that the innards of the game needed some TLC and love. I was trained as an Industrial Designer so I whipped up a quick Box Insert prototype out of cardboard and masking tape and it's been working great so far for the 20 games or so I've played since Dec 20th. I wanted to make the design freely available for other backers to do DIY as I have done with cardboard. If there is interest, I could possibly make a printable cutting template or an STL to 3D print! Can someone tell me what the 5 Europe starting cards are? My copy of daybreak somehow only arrived with 4 of them, and with the 4 Europe start cards that I have being so wildly different from the other countries, I'm sure I can't just sub in a random project and have a proper game experience :(

Two days ago my copy arrived in Italy, I need to admit that I was quite surprised by the speed of the expedition and the fact that no fee was asked at the delivery. The game is in very good condition (just a small dent, acceptable), I am still disappointed by the lack of communication in certain moments of the last months, but I am happy of the game, the overall project was fairly quick by average backer projects standard, and I can't wait to try it with other players! (I've made a quick solo game, and I've managed to win at the last round!)
