Project Update: Proof Copy of Warlock Knight ordered
So I want to see what the proofs look like, and if they're as dark as prior efforts have been. The "dark" is not unusable, it just hides some of the details. Worse with color than B/W and greyscale, but still.
I expect books in hand in fewer than 12 days. So I should be looking at reall, off-the-press hardcopies right about the time I'm ordering large quantities of them for fulfillment.
Project Update: Back from England and Scotland! And a fun souvenir!
This time, it was England (mostly London) and Scotland.
Highlights:
- Hyde Park and Kensington Palace on Day 0 (we landed at about 6am and couldn't check in to hotel until 3pm, so we dropped off bags and went for what amounted to a five or six hour stroll.)
- Harry Potter Studios on Day 1. Wow. Eight zillion-dollar movies produces a lot of magnificent sets and props
- Tower of London on Day 2. Just leave me in the White Tower armoury exhibits for a few days, and I'll be happy.
- Shakespeare on Day 3. Globe Theater tour, a brief stop at the original site of the Globe, where we actually bumped into Mila Kunis and her family (no pix, didn't want to be rude), then a master-class in 16th century gaslighting made even more shocking to the system by a mix of puppets and the anachronistic appearance of a Glock 19 in one of the final scenes.
- Dover Castle on Day 4. Magnificent, and used all the way through WW2.
- Train to Edinburgh Day 5. Was supposed to be 4-5 hours; delayed by unfortunate human-locomotive superposition for four additional hours. That skunked our plans to see Edinburgh Castle upon arrival...
- ...and then we found out the castle has to be booked far in advance, and was sold out. Alas. We did a scotch whiskey tour in the same shop I bought a Rare Malt Collection Hillside cask-strength bottle for my then-girlfriend in 1998.
- My first experience in left-land driving to Inverness, and we stopped at Stirling Castle (wow) and Castle Doune (where they filmed a bunch of Holy Grail) on the way. Discovered the MG HS has some unlovable quirks.
- Drove down the north side of Loch Ness to Urquhart Castle, which is mostly a ruin, but a vastly cool one.
- Irregularities with checking in for our flights super early the next day had us drive out to Inverness airport to get it sorted on site. Got it sorted. Well, as long as we were there, might as well check out Fort George and the home of the Highlanders regiment. A magnificent fort, and HUGE. Alas, after we got home, I started to feel ill.
Woke up at 3am Scotland Time to drive to the airport, fret about the "dump and run" nature of a car return, and get checked in. Flights home were miserable. Masked up and on tons of drugs acquired in the Netherlands (layover in Amsterdam), couldn't sleep, and so was wiped out. Looking at my Fitbit heart rate tracker, I suspect I caught the illness on the train to Edinburgh, as my resting heart rate started to climb rapidly after that.
Oh, the souvenir? Covid. Tested positive after a doctor's appointment yesterday. Was rooting for flu or just a "suffer, you fool" case of viral sinusitis.
In any case, I returned having snapped over 800 pictures. I will not be sharing them all here, but I did post a few below. Walking the grounds of the various castles gave me a better appreciation for the scope of such constructions. Granted, most of the ones I visited were built as show-off displays (I asked specifically about the Tower of London and Dover Castle). On the other hand, Stirling's walls are pockmarked with musket and cannonball fire.
So, back to reality. I work from home anyway, so I shall not let a bit of my Sir 'Rona slow me down. I shall spend the day first getting the surveys up and staged so that they can be tested and go live ASAP, ideally smoke test as early as Monday. That will allow late pledges, add-on finalization, and the like - and as soon as we hit 85% survey completion, I'll release the Kraken and you'll have the Warlock Knight book at the very least. Since it usually takes a few days to get to that point, I very strongly suspect I will also have the cards ready to rock as well.
Once we hit 85%, I'll make the projection of how many of each physical item we'll get, order them, and then I can start fulfillment shortly thereafter.
So, that's where we stand, and I'll be getting very busy for the next few days!
Project Update: A Wrap…unless the backer train keeps rolling
So if you’re looking for an excuse to jump on board, every pledge extends the campaign by a few more minutes. Now is the time!
Project Update: A Playtester Review in the last 12 hours
A solo adventure of knight errantry, where the aim of the aspiring trio is to accumulate glory points. Opportunities are plentiful in an adventuring sandbox; combat is usually an option, but negotiations might work, alliances can be forged; previous actions/outcomes can open up extra possibilities. A sophisticated structure of plot words gives a lot of player freedom; much replay value.
Two playtests to report: the first ended in narrow defeat in a desperate combat; the second in triumph (for the two survivors) despite a number of close calls. Both lasted over a month of game days.
If you enjoyed the Belladonna adventures or Dragon Hunt, you should pick this up. The David Pulver/Gaming Ballistic collaborations are amongst the best programmed solos written for any game system.
Highly recommended.
With the campaign ending tonight, I'd ask you jump on board if you're going to!
If you're new to TFT or want to try it, this one and Dark Lord's Doom make for outstanding introductions to the system.
Project Update: Closing in: Last Day and a Half
If you've been following, now is the time to decide, and of course I would like it very much if you would decide to pledge.
For what it's worth, I just finished - and sent to David, the artists, and playtesters (plus my Patreon subscribers, who get to see all this stuff first) - a customer-ready-I-hope version of the book, for final review. All art, hyperlinking, bar-coding, spell-checking, and the like are done. I hope to have the cards ready to go by Saturday.
With that ... I'll leave you to it, and once again ask for your support as the project closes.

I already have Dark Lords Doom and don't want to buy duplicate cards. Why not make an add on option for the previous releases the includes both the adventure and the cards? Right now you can only get the cards as a whole bundle. I would totally buy the other four adventures if that option were available.
Project Update: Warlock Knight Q&A Scheduled tonight at 7pm Central Time
This will be my very first livestream, so I'd beg patience with an old Doug.
But if you have questions about Warlock Knight, Gaming Ballistic's plans and product for TFT, or GB's RPG plans in general, I'm happy to answer.
If I learn more, I'll amend this post!
This is what the Backerkit guide says about streaming:
Live streaming is a great way to connect with your supporters in real time. You have the opportunity to integrate live streaming into your project, bringing your project to life for both your current backers and potential future fans.
When you set up streams for your project, the stream will take over project card where the project image typically is, and will also be visible on the Community tab. Backers can participate in the local streaming platform chat straight from BackerKit, or comment on the stream via BackerKit if they don't have a streaming platform account.
This stream has ended. Rewatch it now!
I’ll try for the tomorrow time, which was the second choice.
Sorry! Parenting comes first.
Project Update: Heading into the Weekend with Warlock Knight!
Art and Manuscript Progress
First, I've started to get more and more artwork from the team. Looking really, really good.
This has the three sample PCs, with space left for a title image. which is going to be an "arriving at the starting point" montage. I've seen the sketch, and I should see more of it in the next day or so.
There's more art I can show; I don't want to do too much because I want to avoid too many spoilers.
But here's a cutie:
How can you not want to hug that face? If friend-shaped, why not friend?
Campaign Progress
Won't beat around the bush: I'm pretty pleased where this is going and I hope the pace continues. The hardly every reliable BackerTracker is placing a final landing zone at a funding level north of $30K, which would really, really let me get a jump start on the artwork for Isle of Elazar as well as the Sea Hag's Wrath adventure.
Even so, a reminder that this is a short campaign, it ends in one week on Friday (on June 28th), and this is the only weekend. So if you're contemplating jumping on, sooner is better than later, though there will be late pledges once I get back to my desk in mid-July (I'm on holiday for the first two weeks in July, but since that's the time Backerkit is doing their pledge collection and such, that won't matter).
I still think I'll be in a good place to distribute ALL digital rewards (thinks about that ... yeah, I think it's still true) on or about July 15.
Then it's just "the faster the surveys come in, the faster I can order the print books and cards."
So that's it for now! Have a great weekend, and if you're still thinking about joining the campaign, please come on board!

Monster Card Deck (Physical, ~50 cards) <---- Are these 50 new cards for this adventure module?

I'm sure this has been asked, but I can't find the answer... I have the prior entire series for OSE / Basic D&D. Then I saw the whole series for Fantasy Trip. Now there's a new adventure, but it seems like there's no OSE option. What gives?
