How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.
To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.
All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.
Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.
Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.
When will I be charged for my pledge?
Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.
What happens after the campaign is over?
The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.
Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.
Project FAQ
Why does the Deluxe Dragon Chair cost so FREAKING much?
If you've never shopped for fine leather furniture, the sticker shock on the Deluxe Dragon Chair might be a bit overwhelming. We do not intend to "geek gouge" or ruin anyone with these products. We simply know high end furniture manufacturing and realize there is a market for these goods. We have the experience and trust of the gamer community to deliver a specialized product. All materials for this project are chosen for their durability and quality. From the leather to velveteen to solid hardwood frame, we've used these products personally. We have similar furniture in our home made by earlier generations of Clint's family, which have withstood the test of time. The legs on these old chairs are still strong. The upholstery needed cleaning sometimes, but hasn't worn out. The leather hasn't torn or split (leather is actually really easy to clean!). The brass nails from 30 years ago are a little duller, but none have wiggled out or gone missing. The cushions may need refilling, but the parts of the chair or sofa that aren't used as much have retained their form. We're in the process of re-caning our antique kitchen chairs because the seagrass cane weaving wore out, but the sturdy wood is still intact! We know not everyone can afford our products, and a Deluxe Dragon Chair or game table is definitely a luxury for those who can purchase one. But ultimately, regardless of the type of chair or table, the best part about gaming is everyone getting together to play. Seeing old friends, making new friends, teaching a new player an old game or an old player a new game: those are the things that really make games special. Shipping to "Lower 48" Contiguous United States Only
*Chair shipping available to lower 48 United States only. All backers will be invoiced for shipping individually.* While pillows can ship by regular post, the Deluxe Dragon Chair needs special handling. Each Deluxe Dragon Chair backer will be contacted individually for delivery options including White Glove delivery, Threshold delivery, and Curbside Freight delivery (this last option is usually the most expensive). What if I do not make all of the payments in the BackerKit payment plan?
We're thrilled that BackerKit offers the option to pay in installments on all Pledge Levels over $150. https://help.backerkit.com/article/805-pay-over-time However, if for some reason a backer cannot make all the payments they forfeit the pledge rewards. These are custom made pieces which are difficult to resell. If you have any questions please email us at [email protected].
What is your refund policy?
Customized products, such as those in the Deluxe Dragon Chair campaign, cannot be easily re-sold. Therefore, we do not issue refunds after pledges are collected. No Stretch Goals
We do not intend to offer any stretch goals at this time. Having been in this industry for a long time, we understand where many go wrong. Adding stretch goals can complicate the project and delay delivery, which disappoints backers, stresses creators, and undermines satisfaction for everyone involved. Depending on how the campaign progresses, we may reassess our approach. Our initial goal is $10,000, and achieving that would genuinely make us happy—enough for one chair and several pillows. However, if we significantly exceed this goal, we may consider introducing stretch goals, ensuring they do not affect the timely fulfillment of existing rewards. --Jodi and Clint Black
