BackerKit FAQ

How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.

To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.

All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.

Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.

Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.

When will I be charged for my pledge?

Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.

What happens after the campaign is over?

The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.

The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.

Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.

Project FAQ

How much will shipping cost?

Shipping costs will be calculated during fulfilment and vary based on your chosen rewards, their combined weight, and your location. To help you plan for this, we have provided some estimated shipping costs for various rewards on the main page. Note that these may yet change between the time of the campaign and fulfilment.

Why no minis?

Hollows is a game about defeating big monsters in really spectacular boss fights. It's a natural fit for minis, no? Well... yes and no. Every monster Hunters fight looks unique, because it's the product of one person's rotten inner world. There's no such thing as a standard Entity. Likewise, with hundreds of Weapon combinations it's hard to make minis that reflect every possible Hunter. So while minis can add a lot to a game of Hollows, we strongly recommend using the ones you already have on your shelves. Plus, the component kit includes an Entity token and several player pieces you can use to represent anything and anyone in a fight.

What's in the component kit?

The Hollows component kit is big. It includes: 1 tactical grid (screen printed on cotton) 6 d20s (enough for a whole group of players) 6 resin player pieces, styled to resemble wooden chess knights (with a little Hollows flair) 8 wooden Curse counters 6 wooden Capacity tokens, shaped like bullets 7 wooden Terrain tokens (double sided; sheltered terrain on one side, elevated on the other) 2 wooden Briar tokens for Staff users 30 acrylic Threat tokens 2 wooden Shotgun tokens 2 wooden Armour tokens 10 wooden Focus tokens 1 wooden Entity and Bleed token (two-part, fit together) 1 wooden Doom token 8 "assist" cards, with key reference information 60 wooden Resolve tokens 60 wooden Wound tokens What do they all do? That's answered in detail in our gameplay video on the campaign page, but the short answer is that these tokens give you everything you need for the smoothest possible Hollows experience. As much as we love the component kit, it's not essential. You can use whatever materials you have on hand as long as everyone's clear on what they represent, and we'll have print and play versions available (for free) as well.

How many players will Hollows work for?

Hollows is designed for roughly 4 Hunters and a GM. We include rules for scaling Entity strength up or down for a larger or smaller group. As well as increasing or reducing Entity Wounds and Resolve (both elements of their overall ability to withstand damage), the scaling rules let the GM add extra abilities, making the Entity significantly more dangerous.
