Thanks for all of your patience, everyone! If you've been waiting for your Backer Survey I've got good news—the Pledge Manager is set up and approved, so surveys are officially coming soon!

If you've been here before you probably already know what to do, but if this is your first time backing a crowdfunding campaign, keep an eye out for your Backer Survey to arrive in the email inbox that your pledge is connected to. The survey is your opportunity to claim the rewards that you've pledged for, provide your shipping address, and add on any goodies you may have missed during the live campaign.

Please be sure to fill out your surveys right away! 
Once the majority of Backers have filled out their surveys and we have a good idea of how many pins and stickers need to be made, we'll be able to get started on production and manufacturing. The sooner everyone completes their surveys, the quicker you can get your rewards!

Surveys will close on August 15th to keep production on schedule. All surveys completed by August 15th are guaranteed to be in the first round of fulfillment and will receive all of their pledged for items.
We will do our best to fulfill all surveys completed after August 15th, but rewards items are being produced in limited quantities and cannot be guaranteed.

The first batch of surveys will be going out now to a few randomly selected backers to test everything out, and once we've assured that it's all working properly the remaining surveys should be sent no later than Monday, July 15th.

Please note that we're using Backerkit's new beta feature where you will charged separately for shipping at a time closer to the fulfillment date. This feature will allow us to get the most accurate rates for postage and ensure we're giving everyone the most economical shipping prices possible.

What happens next?

My job will transition from running the live campaign to finalizing artwork and prepping for production and fulfillment, and I’ll be sure to share updates with you on the process and timeline along the way. You’ll also see an update shortly before Backer Surveys go out.

Backerkit is currently collecting funds from pledges and they’ll be released to me in a couple of weeks, at which point we get started on pre-production. You’ll receive a Backer Survey in your inbox that will take you to the Pledge Manager, where you can confirm your shipping address and the rewards you’ve selected and a final opportunity to grab any add-ons you may have missed.

We crushed so many of the stretch goals but there were still a couple of pins to unlock, so by popular request they’ll be available to unlock in the Pledge Manager. If enough people want to purchase one, we’ll make it happen.

Please note that your original pledged amount and any additional purchases from the Pledge Manager will be charged separately and before the final charge for shipping fees, which will be charged closer to fulfillment. This allows us to give all of our Backers the most accurate and cost effective prices for shipping.

There's only one week left to go for Tidal Treasures! We're so close to unlocking the California Two-spot octopus pin, and there's still time to vote for which pin you want to unlock as a freebie for all backers when we reach $19k.

It's been really fun to hear which of the pin designs and creatures are your favorites, and now I want to know...

Have you ever been tide pooling? Where’s your favorite place to go?

One of my favorite places is Salt Creek Recreation Area, near Washington state’s most northern coast. Above is a photo I took of a tide pool containing purple encrusting sea sponges, black leather chitons, acorn barnacles, and an aggregate green anemone. The longer you look the more creatures you can find—can you spot anything I missed? 

Besides being home to all kinds of amazing tide pool species. Salt Creek is also just an incredibly beautiful place to visit and stay, and you absolutely can’t beat a cliffside campsite overlooking the Pacific ocean.

We’re entering the second week of the campaign and thanks to your support we’re super close to reaching $17k and unlocking the next new pin, the California Two-Spot Octopus!

Once we reach that goal, I hope to unlock a free mini pin for all backers.

Finally, if you’re a fan and follower of the Monterey Bay Aquarium, you probably heard about the passing of their beloved otter Rosa last week. She had joined the aquarium in June 2002 and at 24 years old was one of the worlds’ longest-lived Southern Sea Otters, and she was a treasured ambassador for her species.

Living in the Bay Area for half my life I visited the Monterey Bay Aquarium a lot and their otters were a big inspiration for this pin collection, so I just had to make some art to commemorate Rosa. Here she is enjoying a little clam treat in her boomer ball!
